Q I just bought an iPhone that I hope to use to check both my personal emails and those from my work. At work, we have Outlook and I know that the emails are sent to the BlackBerrys my colleagues use. How do I set the iPhone up to do this? Will I have to sync my contacts too or can I keep them separate?A It's definitely possible to check multiple email accounts via an iPhone. In fact, the device comes with some settings pre-prepared for major email services such as Gmail and Yahoo. Each email account can be adjusted separately in the Settings area of the handset. In the case of your work email, you'll need to check with your IT department for the specific settings and whether you can have email "pushed", which means new messages will be delivered to your handset. Then, this can be controlled under the setting Fetch New Data, where you can turn Push on or off and define how often your phone checks email at your other accounts. Also in Settings, go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select each account to specify what to sync for your work account.Q I recently dropped my laptop, which broke the hard drive. I have had a new drive installed and all is working OK. The problem now is how to reload all my music from my iPod onto the new hard drive. Apparently all the files still are intact on the old drive if this is any use. Hope you can help.A Apple hasn't made it easy but it can be done with some fiddling. Instructions vary with different iPod models and for Windows and Mac users. There's quite a good guide with instructions for the manual steps at LifeHacker (tinyurl.com/4o8ctn) and the article also provides suggestions for software to make the process a little easier.Q I'm running XP and have just changed monitors from a 17-inch to a 22-inch. The recommended resolution for my new monitor is 1920 x 1080 but when I set this, the screen display icons etc are too small. Any ideas?A If you don't want to drop the resolution down, you can simply adjust the icons and font size used across your system. Right-click on the desktop and go to the Display settings then the Appearance tab. You'll find the icon size settings under the Advanced button.qa@nicolemanktelow.comsmh.com.au/techtips
